Valentine's Day is Monday, so you probaly have yourself a hot date this weekend. If you've made the dinner or theatre reservations and picked out the perfect outfit, but you're wondering how to make your makeup special for this "love'ly holiday, here are some tips from makeup artist, Christopher Drummond.
- To feel more romantic, use naturally scented lip products.
- If you are hesitant to wear bright red lipstick, wear a soft red gloss instead
- Valentine’s Day is all about kissing the one you love. Be sure to keep your lips hydrated with shea butter. This natural ingredient keeps your lips smoother longer than petroleum.
- Use your lip liner on top of lipstick. This helps to avoid the oblivious line around the lips when your gloss comes off. Lining after your lip color also allows for easier application and blendability.
- For fuller lips, add shimmer (try: apply Christopher Drummond Beauty Relache Ice Eye Shadow to the inner lips to create the illusion of fullness)
These are some great tips for fabulous lips! In fact, Christopher is currently offering a free Ruby Slippers Lip Gloss with the purchase of any Women's Gift Set. You know my philosophy on gifts - it's wonderful to receive a gift, but you can ALWAYS give one to yourself.
So what are you plans this Valentine's Day? Will you be spending it with the one you love or do you have plans to show yourself some nurturing? Let's hear it.

I just received information about an amazing contest in which the winner can get $2K toward the Cartier's Love Collection! Cartier, people! Beyond incredible jewelry. What struck me as strange at first was that the contest is sponsored by the LIFE foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the importance of life insurance.
The LIFE Foundation's campaign is called Insure Your Love, and it really makes a lot of sense. Valentine's Day is the holiday of love. We all want to protect our loved ones, our most prized possessions, in the possible event of our death. Reading about the campaign has certainly caused me to think about my lack of planning.
I wanted to spread the word about this worthwhile foundation and the amazing contest they're sponsoring. For your chance to win, just visit The Selfless Love Contest and nominate a friend or loved one who has demonstrated a selfless act of love. The deadline is Valentine's Day, February 14th, so hurry over and enter!

This Valentine's Day tip is all about the music you'll want playing in the background when you and your sweetie sit down to dinner or lounge with champagne in front of the fire. Yanni Voices is a collection of four talented signers discovered by the legendary Yanni. The voices are Nathan Pacheco, Chloe, Ender Thomas, and Leslie Mills. These are truly some incredibly talented vocalists, and Yanni matches their talents to his compositions perfectly.
You can listen to a preview of their romantic, Mediterranean sounds on the website, but I have to say the gentlemen are even nicer to look at in the video preview. If you want to see more, take a look at their tour dates that begin in April. Maybe they'll be coming to a city near you!
I'm not sure if I'll be seeing them live in conert, but I can tell you that Bill and I will be spending Valentine's Day at home with a nice dinner and a bottle of sparkling wine, listening to Yanni Voices playing in the background. Okay, listening to Yanni Voices and Brady squealing in the background. But Yanni Voices will be there. Let me know what you think of them! And look for more from them here in the future; it's likely I'll have a giveaway or two in store!
