I told you a couple of weks ago that my family and I were going to Kalahari Resorts and Water Park in Sandusky, Ohio. There is also a Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells. It's time I give you an update on what an awesome time we had and all the thhings we loved about Kalahari. I mentioned in my last post that my big kids and I had already been to Kalahri once before and loved it. I was a bit nervous about taking my husband and little one because, frankly, they're not as easy to please! But guess what? They had an awesome time and loved Kalahari, too.
We arrived in the evening and were met with helpful folks outside who offered to park our car and help us with our luggage. That was an awesomee way to be greeted after a three hour drive. The staff cocntinued to be extremely friendly and helpful from there. Check-in was a breeze, and we headed to our room. And, oh, what a room! We stayed in two rooms that adjoined and made up a suite. It was huge, with plenty of room, and the perks were incredible. I honestly think the plush accomodations may have been my favorite part, and I could've stayed there the whole trip. Check it out!
This is the living area complete with fireplace! Can you tell Brady liked it?
A complete kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, dishes, cookware and utensils. And coffee! So convenient and great way to save money.
Also included were two separate sleeping areas, two bahtrooms (one with a whirlpool tub) and two balconies. It was pure heaven, especially that bath! We could've gone down to the water park that night because it was open until 10:00 pm, but we decided to enjoy the room, much to my older son's dismay. The next morning we got up bright and early for breakfast, which was amazing. We really enjoyed the food all weekend at Kalari. The boys (My daughter stayed home.) were most fond of the Candy Hut, and I can't say I blame them. I recommended the caramel apples.
After breakfast, we got to check out the much anticipated water park. Even I had a fabulous time! We all enjoyed the Lazy River and the Wave Pool. I was afriad that my four-year old, Brady, would be too afraid to try anyting because he has never been fond of water. He absolutely loved both of these rides, though he didn't try any of the water slides, even though he was tall enough for a couple. My older son was the adventurous one and tried the big slides. In fact, he was so gung ho that he even attempted the Flow Rider, the new surfing simulator. Look at him go!
We hung out at the water park the rest of the afternoon, but there was so much more to explore at Kalahari. The evening held a lot of fun for us at the huge arcade, where there are fun activities like bowling, glow in the dark mini golf and video games. We absolutely loved them all!
We also got to participate in a fun activity of making pizza after playing games. Kalahari always has some kind of fun activity going on, like cookie decorating or story time. Here's Bill tossing the pizza dough.
To finish the evening, we got to see Santa and hear Mrs. Claus read a book specially written for Kalahari called, "Are We There Yet?" Here's Brady meeting Kenya and Kya, the fun Kalahari mascots. Aren't they cute?
Because we had a three-hour drive the next day, we called it a night, and we left after breakfast the next morning. We were super sad to leave, but I know we'll visit Kalahari again. It was a blast and had so much to offer. This is the second trip there for me and my kids, and I'm sure that a trip to Kalahari will become a tradition for our family.
