Yes, I am aware that Christmas just ended. However, my littlest one's birthday is coming up. Somehow I managed to to have all three of my kdis in the winter, right around Christmas. Noah, 14, was born on Christmas Eve, Norah will turn 12 next month on the 26th, and Brady will be five in March. For us, winter is the season of spending money and celebrating.
And so now I'm starting to plan ahead for two upcoming birthdays. Make that one birthday. I don't have to plan for Norah. She knows exactly what she wants. Exactly what she didn't get for Christmas - an iPod Touch. I'm going to try to get it for her. With that decision out of the way, it's onto looking for more fun and less expensive birthday ideas.
I love the fun of little kids toys. Don't get me wrong. It is kind of cool to enjoy electronic gadgets with the older kids. But it's the imagination of little kid toys that reminds me that I need to hold onto these days because they go by so fast.
Here are the top contenders for Brady's 5th birthday:
The Amazing Web Shooting Spiderman
Brady loves Spiderman.. Toy Story and Thomas come and go, but Spidey's been a constant for a few years now. That's why the Amazing Web Shooting Spiderman tops the list this year. Come on, how cool is this toy? It has web slingers, people! And sound effects. Brady will absolutely love it, I'm sure. His dad, probably not so much, as he's not so into toys that have the potential to make messes. I say they're only young once, so let's shoot some webs.
Thomas and Friends Take-n-Play The Great Quarry Climb
Brady is still into Thomas at this moment. He's also into racecars quite a bit. So I fugre, since we don't have the room for what he'd really like to have, the Thomas train table, this toy would be a perfect compromise. It has a fun track for the trains to speed along. This is a good toy for helping Brady to use his imagination because there are a couple of train figures that are able to perform various tasks. I'm pretty sure he'd love this.
Jake and the Neverland Pirates Game for Mobigo
Santa brought Brady a Mobigo electonic learning system for Christmas a couple years ago. It was a big hit for awhile. Now he refuses to touch the thing, preferring to play games on the Wii or iPad. I'd love for him to use it some more, and he says he would if he had a new game to play. So I think this Jake and the Neverland Pirates game would be a good one for him because he likes the show. Also, it can help him to learn skills to prepare for entering Kindergarten next year. Fun and educational is always a good combo in my book.
Do you have any suggestions for me? What toys are you preschoolers loving right now?
