One in six Americans struggles with hunger. So many of these are children. It breaks my heart to know that parents across the country have to send their children to bed hungry. I've written in the past about my family's financial struggles and how we've had to depend on public assistance. I know what it's like to struggle and to accept help. I don't know what it's like not to be able to feed my children.
Because it is a problem that exists in our nation, as well as around the world, Libby's has created a virtual canned food drive to help raise money to feed those in need. I've been asked by TheMotherhood to take part in a local blogger event here in Pittsburgh to help raise awareness and to bring families back to the table. Other bloggers and I will be coming together tomorrow afternoon to assemble dinner kits to be donated to the local Habitat for Humanity. We'll also be hearing from TV personality and mom coach, Hannah Keeley. I'm super excited because I've recently started reading her book, The Total Mom Makeover to help me get back on track with myself and my goals, and I can tell you that this woman is amazing!
Hannah will also be appearing at the Market District in Giant Eagle, located at 5550 Centre Avenue in Pittsburgh) tomorrow, September 16th, from 5 - 7pm to give cooking tips and meet the public. Stop by, if you're nearby!
No matter where you live, you can help. Click on the banner in my sidebar to donate to Libby's virtual canned food drive or click here. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much.
Look for a post on tomorrow's event as well as a fun contest from Libby's coming up!
